This painting is about paint application and texture using tinfoil as a base on wood, robust enough to paint on but robust enough to scrape back to the reflective surface of the foil which when done randomly is an effective way to mimic the loose, fish scales that sardines seem to shed.

The colour turquoise is chosen as a Cornish connection to shallow coastal waters in this area on a sunny day.
